Bio

I began my career in the 90s at NYC's UNIQUE studios, which was home to recording artists including Alicia Keys, Kanye West, Nas, 2Pac, Madonna, Mariah Carey, The Rolling Stones and Aerosmith. I am a co-writer and co-producer of Matty B's "Hooked On You", which has earned over 50 million views on YouTube, and I have written with and produced American Idol finalist Big Mike. I have written and performed songs featured in Disney films and network TV shows with my band Amelia's Dream, co-founded with my wife Amelia S. Gewirtz. I have written jingles for Burger King, Chevrolet, Campbells, Hasbro, Fisher Price, Friskies and Sears. I have played keyboards on Broadway shows including The Lion King, Spider Man, and A Bronx Tale. I am a Lincoln Center Scholar and an honors graduate of NYU’s Music Technology program. I am Vice-Chair of the Songwriters Hall of Fame NY Education Committee, Co-Creator of the SHOF Master Sessions at Stuyvesant High School as well as Co-Creator of the SHOF Songwriters of Tomorrow Scholarship. I teach about the musical genres of NYC at Stuyvesant High School and am the Creative Director of the NYC All-City Modern Music Project. 

My focus is on pop songwriting and artist development in the context of music education.

Music Production and Songwriting

Amelia’s Dream is a wife and husband duo based in New York City. Amelia's Dream consists of songwriter/singer Amelia S. Gewirtz & producer/songwriter/educator Harold Stephan. Their original music has been featured on multiple TV shows and movies including  Wishmaster 4 ("Garden") , Dog the Bounty Hunter ("Broken"), Disney’s In A Heartbeat ("Trust Your Gut"), and shows from CBS, ABC ("In Your Arms"), and MTV . In 2017 the Amelia’s Dream Song “Ballerina” was chosen as the theme song for the award winning web series Good n’ Screwed, excecutive produced by Stevie Van Zandt. Amelia and Harold have been performing together for 3 decades at clubs like the Mercury Lounge, the Knitting Factory, the Bitter End, and NYC events including 7 years as a featured band in the NYC Marathon and AIDS Walk. Their 1st album Here in the Rage was released in 1995. A 2nd album, Love Tattoo, was released in ‘99 on Ripe & Ready Records, with a 3rd album Unravel: Recorded Live at the Magic Shop following in ‘04. The husband and wife team released a 4th/5th double album No More Time in 2013 under the name Parents With Angst, inspired by the birth of their son Adam in ‘07.
